He has repeatedly been the cause of furore with both praise and critique through his reproductions leaning towards popular culture since the 1980s. The Fondation Beyeler now presents a premier for Switzerland with first Koon exhibition focusing on three major groups of works.

He created icons such as the Red Blue Chair and the Rietveld Schröder House, transferring the rigorous compositions of Piet Mondrian and other members of the De Stijl movement into objects and space.

The brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec rank among the most influential contemporary designers. Their ideas are often inspired by shapes and structures of nature. The exhibition presents sketches and conceptual drawings of the Bouroullecs and draws attention towards the medium of drawing itself, which has kept its importance even in times of computer visualizations.
